Buccoo, Tobago.

Home

Cory grew up here in Tobago as the middle child of three and was born in Scarborough. He was brought up in a 'religious' home being sent to church each Sunday at a local Anglican Church.

After a tragic injury of a broken leg, his plans were squashed in secondary (high) school to obtain a football (soccer) scholarship to the USA. It forced him then to focus more on his studies. During this time, he linked up with a bible study group in his school called Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCF), When he was 17, he broke his elbow. It was at this time, he made a re-commitment to Christ to do something with his life. After attending a youth retreat, he was further challenged and experienced more of the presence of God.

Cory knew God has called him into ministry. He loves to see people whole, happy and working in their calling. As in Ephesians 4:16, each person, the whole church, working together, growing together and each doing their part in the body. God lead him to Buccoo Jesus Worship and Life Centre 2 ½ years ago. Many have identified his giftings and have encouraged him to pursue youth pastoring. Right now, Cory works full time at Montgomery Primary School in Carnbee, Tobago as an office assistant.

About two years ago, he began pastoring the youth group. Mentoring, counseling, building relationships and leading the youth group are his main responsibilities. He also has a passion for worship, plays keyboard and participates with his church worship team.

His vision for his life and ministry:

  • to reach other young people in whatever way we can through evangelism, mentoring , visiting etc…
  • His mission:

  • Building a family of youth - not just a youth group - a family bond with one another within the youth group.

  • Cory has a desire to build relationships with other youth leaders here in Tobago. Recently, he organized the Jedial Youth Retreat where various youth groups got together for a day and a half of sessions on 'Knowing God'. He has been a wonderful help to us in forming the Tobago Youth Leaders Network and we enjoy his friendship and leadership.

Please remember Cory and his church and youth group in prayer as they reach out to teens in Buccoo and surrounding areas.

Cory's personal prayer request is for transportation - for God to provide a car to help him be mobile for ministry. Also to pray for youth ministry in Trinidad and Tobago to unite together!
